Alessandro is the Team Leader of TA Team II of the ARISE+ Indonesia Programme. A trade and investment policy expert with twenty-five years of experience, Alessandro has been actively involved in EU trade-related technical assistance programmes in Indonesia over the past decade, initially in the EU-Indonesia Trade Cooperation Facility and more recently in TA Team I of ARISE+ Indonesia.
Alessandro has previously led several assignments with the EU, DFID and the Word Bank in the fields of trade, investment and competitiveness in a variety of contexts in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Alessandro started his career in investment banking in London working on a variety of corporate finance assignments in Europe and the Emerging Markets, which allowed him to develop a solid understanding of investors and private sector concerns in low- and middle-income economies.
Alessandro holds a Masters in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a Masters in Economics and Business from the University of Turin.

The TA Team Leader is responsible for delivering the programme results and managing its resources. Marc brings 30 years of professional experience at senior management positions, of which over 25 years were served in development and international cooperation in many countries around the world. He possesses 14 years of experience as Team Leader of large-scale EU funded projects supporting economic integration, trade negotiations, private sector development and capacity building amongst other areas. As Project Manager of the Joint-Africa EU Strategy Support Programme, Marc led teams of experts in facilitating policy dialogue between the EU and the African Union in many areas, including EU support to the African Continental Free Trade Area. During his career Marc has advised top executives of several inter-governmental organisations. Marc holds a master’s degree in Management Science from the University of Bordeaux in France.

James Lenaghan is responsible for the Trade Facilitation and Trade Remedies components of the Programme. James has 30 years of professional experience in the areas of trade facilitation, customs and economic integration. Between 2012 and 2015 he was the Customs Director of the Mauritius Revenue Authority, responsible for 650 officers and US$1 billion of tax revenue; during the same period, he was also Vice-Chair of the World Customs Organisation for Eastern and Southern Africa, representing 24 States of that region. He has experience in over 40 countries, including many ASEAN members. He has a solid understanding of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and contributed directly to the Action Plan to implement the WTO TFA in Mauritius and the establishment of a National Trade Facilitation Committee. James has practical experience in trade remedies and first-hand knowledge of complex anti-dumping duty actions. James holds a double MA in International Customs Law and Administration and International Revenue Management.

Carsten Kudahl is responsible for the implementation of the Export Quality Infrastructure components. Carsten has 25 years’ experience related to the field of quality infrastructure of which 8 years were on managerial level at Danish Standards where he worked as Head of Secretariat, Project Manager, Project Director and Danish Standards’ representative in CEN Technical Management Board. Since 1998 he has contributed with his expertise both as team leader, key expert and short-term expert on primarily EU-funded projects supporting the quality infrastructure in EU candidate countries. Furthermore, he has worked on quality infrastructure projects in South East Asia, Africa, the Arabic region and the Balkan countries. Carsten holds a master’s degree in business law and business economics and a bachelor’s degree in information technology and economics.

Dan Nicholls currently leads the ARISE+ Indonesia work on Investment Policy and Planning with the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) and the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). Dan is an investment promotion and policy specialist, with more than fourteen years of experience working in twenty countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Dan has worked on projects in Indonesia since 2013 and spent two years based at BKPM where he established and led the EU Desk, which secured more than US$760 million in investment commitments from client companies in its first two years. Dan has also been a retained Senior Consultant to the World Bank Group since 2017, managing and implementing investment policy and promotion projects in multiple countries across Asia, Eurasia and Africa.

Widdi Mugijayani is a TA Team II senior expert for trade and investment at the ARISE+ Indonesia Programme. She is currently involved in on-demand research to support policy reforms and recovery plans. She also supports the MoT to address any new emerging topics in the FTA/CEPA negotiations, trade in services, and export acceleration areas.
Previously, Widdi has led several assignments with UNDP Indonesia, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), APEC Secretariat in Singapore, and Digital Pathways Oxford University in the UK in trade and investment, competitiveness, human capital, gender, and social protection.
Widdi has some publications in labour and human capital areas, such as Digital Skills and Literacy Toolkit for G20 Countries, Employment Dynamic in Indonesia and ASEAN, and Women Empowerment and Structural Reform in APEC economies.

Arief Safari supports the ARISE+ Indonesia components on Export Quality Infrastructure. Arief holds a PhD in strategic management from the Business School of IPB University. He currently serves as Coordinator of Communication and Education Commission at the National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN). Arief is also a lecturer at the Ahmad Dahlan Institute of Technology & Business at IPB University. He is the former President Director of PT Sucofindo and also has previously served as a Senior Expert in the EU-Indonesia TSP II Project. He has conducted statistical analysis of products with export potential for the Directorate of Standardization and Quality Control of the Ministry of Trade, thereby mapping the Quality Infrastructure services which will take place under ARISE+ Indonesia. He has also coordinated efforts to enhance National Quality Assurance in line with global practices.

Alain Peyré is a senior expert of TA Team II for export quality infrastructure at the ARISE+ Indonesia Programme. A quality/management systems auditor and chemical testing lab assessor, Alain also has experience in the provision of policy advice in the field of Standards, Testing, Quality, Metrology towards trade support, SPS regimes, and the removal of non-tariff barriers (TBT and SPS). He has extensive experience in implementing technical assistance programmes with capacity building or institutional support for quality systems, industrial compliance, and trade facilitation.
Alain's broad-ranging expertise aims to boost trade through the diffusion of common standards and conformity assessment practices. He has reviewed and improved the legal and administrative frameworks for various national certification schemes and delivered training for policy-makers and officers on NQI, trade facilitation, TBT compliance, standardization and technical regulations. He engages with standard bodies and identifies hindrances to the adoption of international standards generating technical barriers to trade.

Giovanni Galanti is responsible for coordinating actions supporting Geographical Indication (GI) and the provision of technical assistance for developing institutional capacity on GI governance. Giovanni has 20 years of experience in quality agriculture policies, value added products and private and regulated standards. He has been working in the ASEAN region since 2002 on the promotion of schemes and standards that are aimed at improving the recognition of GI products on markets in support of hundreds of enterprises, including achieving compliance with accredited certification schemes. Prior to joining ARISE+ Indonesia (Second Technical Assistance), Trio Wisudhanto served as an Advisor for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) at GIZ Indonesia. Previously, he has been the Market Research and Development Advisor of the Commercial Section at the Austrian Embassy in Jakarta. His professional experiences in Indonesia began with the EU-Project called EIBN (EU-Indonesia Business Network), and Trio was also in charge as Senior Executive of the Business Development Division for the German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Indonesia) in Jakarta. As a PhD candidate at the University of Cologne focusing on research into the interplay between International Relations and the EU's development, he contributed to research projects dealing with Russia and South Caucasus. Trio Wisudhanto holds a German Diplom rer.soc from WWU Münster, Germany and a Diplomă de Licenţă from Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. During his overseas life, he worked for a development program funded by the Federal Ministry of Work and Social Affairs (BMAS), European Social Fund (ESF), and another social program for the disabled at Lebenshilfe Köln charity. His professional experience also consists of support assistance to Germany's regional public-service broadcasters: die ARD and NDR, for Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany. He also supported professionally at the International Office of Cologne University and as a research assistant at the universities where he spent his academic years.

M. Dian Revindo is a TA Team I senior expert for trade and investment planning at the ARISE+ Indonesia Programme. Revindo joined the University of Indonesia in 2009 after previously working for PT. Surveyor Indonesia. He lectures at the Graduate School of Strategic and Global Studies, University of Indonesia (SKSG UI) and also leads the Business Climate and Global Value Chain Research Group at the Institute for Economic and Social Research, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LPEM FEB UI), with research focused on International Trade, Industrial Economics, Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Tourism and Microfinance. He has an extensive experience in research, survey and consulting projects for various national and international client organizations and publishes extensively in various national and international academic journals.
Revindo earned his PhD from Lincoln University, New Zealand. He also holds an M.A. in European Studies from KU Leuven, Belgium (2008), an M.Sc. in Economics from KU Leuven, Belgium (2007) and a B.A. in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Indonesia (2000).

Nurmala Martin leads the branding and trade promotion activities for Geographical Indications, facilitating B2B cooperation. Nurmala is a trade marketing, promotion and branding specialist, with 15 years of experience working in the private and public sectors in the UK, France, the UAE, South Korea and in the ASEAN countries. Nurmala previously held the position of Senior Expert in National Branding, advising the Ministry of Trade, BAPPENAS and the Ministry of Tourism in formulating a concept for national branding strategy. She has also worked as a Senior Expert at the investment promotion and facilitation services based at BKPM, the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board. Nurmala obtained an MBA at the University of Edinburgh (UK) and ESSEC Business School Paris (France), and holds a BA(Hons) in Marketing at the University of Brighton (UK).

Zayani Shallaita is responsible for managing office operations and administration for ARISE+ Indonesia's Technical Assistance Team II. She has 12 years of professional experience spanning various operational aspects on donor-funded projects and in the private sector, including office management, logistics, procurement, human resources, legal formalities and event management. She has excellent engagement skills with the Government, international institutions and the private sector. She has worked as an Office and Administration Manager/Officer for various organisations such the Innovation for Indonesia's School Children (INOVASI), the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Indonesia, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) International, Child Fund, and The Guardian Newspaper. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Padjadjaran University in Bandung. She also received a diploma in the Japanese Language.

Maulina Manurung is in charge of the day-to-day financial management of local project costs and the management of accounting and finance operations. . In this capacity, she monitors the usage of the Programme’s resources, and facilitates financial planning/budget of project activities. Maulina obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Indonesia in the field of Accounting. She has worked over 9 years with EU projects in Indonesia. She previously worked for the EU-Indonesia Trade Cooperation Facility and the EU-ASEAN Statistical Capacity Building Programme.

As the Office Manager, Maya Herlina ensures the smooth running of the office in Jakarta, including coordinating back office support to experts, managing supplies and services, and managing correspondence pertaining to programme operations. She liaises actively between experts and programme stakeholders to facilitate engagement and handles administrative procedures to support the implementation of activities. Maya holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She has over 15 years of experience working with donor and development agencies and non-government organisations. She is familiar with project cycle management.

Sitti Fatmawati supports communication actions and the management of events. She takes care of the logistical and administrative requirements before, during and after the organisation of events.
