The Directorate General for International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with ARISE+ Indonesia, is organising a workshop on WTO Agriculture Negotiations. Historically, agricultural trade was less regulated than non-agricultural trade until the GATT Uruguay Round began addressing trade-distorting agricultural measures. Despite the initiation of new negotiations in March 2000 under the Agreement on Agriculture's Article 20, progress has stalled, with no significant advancements at the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13). The workshop aims to review the current status of negotiations, focusing specifically on the issue of 'Public Stockholding.' It will also explore strategies to advance negotiations and address the resistance from some countries to progress.
