Technical Assistance I

Our next culinary adventure will take us to Kerinci Regency, a plateau area occupying the Barisan Mountains range (Bukit Barisan) in the south-western part of Sumatra, where the Cinnamomum burmannii is grown and cultivated by the local Kerinci community.

Through the fifth webinar series of Indonesia's Geographical Indication Show (IGIS) 2022 campaign, we will learn about one of the Geographical Indication speciality spices, the Koerintji Cinnamon, which has a long-known reputation due to its stronger flavour and odour than average cinnamon.

The webinar will discuss the supply chain management of GI products to ensure a quality reputation in the domestic or international markets with a case study of Koerintji Cinnamon. The webinar features prominent experts in Geographical Indication, supply chain management, and the food industry.

IGIS 2022 is an initiative under the aegis of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, supported by the EU-funded ARISE+ Indonesia, aiming to increase public awareness of Indonesian Geographical Indication products through roadshows at ten selected Geographical Indication sites. Promotional and campaign activities during the roadshows include a mini webinar series and culinary shows.
