The Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) will host three workshops on developing policy briefs on 10-11 December 2020. The workshops are intended to provide BAPPENAS officials with ready-to-use advice and tools in developing, writing and presenting policy briefs. They are conceptualised to complement the work conducted on macroeconomic planning and forecasting, so that officials trained in conducting economic-trade-investment simulations and analysis can effectively use the information emerging from the models to develop clear and informative policy documents.

The workshops build on the testimonials and advice of  known economists, academics, writers and professional communicators. They are intended to provide concrete guidance that can easily be applied to the daily work of officials in writing notes, analysis and recommendations on a variety of policy issues.

We will look at the five sections of a policy brief and discuss what the reader should expect to find in each. Lastly we will go through writing tips which will include writing clear and concise sentences, whether and how to use boxes and sidebars, make use of cases and examples, table, graphics and infographics. And lastly the three stages for editing the finalised policy brief
