Nutmeg is at high risk of contamination with mycotoxins (aflatoxin, ochratoxin and others). Testing for aflatoxin and ochratoxin contamination is needed to comply with the international trading regulations, especially before entering the EU. Ensuring the food safety and quality of nutmeg is crucial to avoid economic losses due to rejection of the products in the international trading.
The objective of the training is to improve the skills of food safety officers and lab analyst in testing and analysis for mycotoxin in nutmeg and improve knowledge about basic principles for control of aflatoxin formation in nutmeg.
