Technical Assistance I

 

The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Directorate General of National Export Development (DGNED) in the Ministry of Trade, and representatives of the Geographical Indication (GI) Cocoa sector embark on a study mission to Italy, 18-28 September 2022, facilitated by ARISE+ Indonesia.

The objectives of the study mission include:

  1. Benchmarking best practices in GI protection, control and promotion,
  2. Institutionalising a collaborative partnership between the Italian Central Inspectorate for Quality Safeguarding and Anti-fraud of Foodstuffs and Agricultural Products (ICQRF) and DGIP,
  3. Discussing the prospects of establishing a twinning arrangement between Modica Chocolate GI Consortium and the relevant Indonesian Cocoa producers’ organisation,
  4. Learning about best practices from private sector GI organisations in Italy for GI promotion and development in Indonesia.

The activity will provide the opportunity to observe and discuss different aspects of the GI environment, such as product development, GI association roles, GI legal framework, market monitoring and surveillance, market and national branding aspects, link with tourism and explore business partnerships.
