The Directorate General of International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with ARISE+ Indonesia, is organizing an online workshop focused on the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies. This event is particularly crucial for Indonesia, considering the significant role of the fisheries sector in the nation and Indonesia's substantial contribution to global fisheries production. The workshop aims to deepen understanding of the Agreement's content and its implications, both in terms of immediate implementation and future negotiations regarding unresolved issues.
The workshop will feature a background report that clarifies the Fisheries Agreement and analyzes different countries' stances within the WTO, providing insights into negotiation dynamics. It aims to help policymakers develop strategies that incorporate the Agreement for effective future implementation.
